The standard 512/514/515 system is designed to transport one (1) channel async serial data signal over long distance through one or one pair of singlemode or multimode fiber.

The 512/514/515 Series is a cost effective and compact Digital Fiber Optic Async Data Modem, providing transmission of digital serial data. The system supports RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 data signal formats. The data rate is up to 128Kbps for RS-232 and is up to 1Mbps for RS-422. Versions are available for RS-232 transmission with handshaking control signals or with data power option (no additional external power required). Panel connectors are provided for data (DB25 connector) and fiber connection (ST-type for singlemode and multimode versions). The standalone units are powered by +9 VDC. The 512/514/515 design is capable of addressing a variety of non-standard configurations.
